Elizabeth Jane Hurley was an English model, actress and singer who rose to notoriety in the late 1990s after she was the girlfriend of Hugh Grant. The film of Grant Four Weddings and a Funeral gained international recognition, Hurley accompanied Grant to the film's Los Angeles premiere wearing a black Versace gown that featured gold safety-pins. This outfit gained immediate interest from the media. What has been the highlight of her professional experience has been her association with the cosmetics company Estee Lauder. Hurley was commissioned by Estee Lauder as her first model at age 28. In 1995 she has been used as a face for products from the company, like Sensuous Intuition and Pleasures. In the action-packed spy films International Man of Mystery (1997) and Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me (1998), she performed the role of Vanessa Kensington. Hurley designs and models a eponymous collection of beachwear. I Loved a Girl was a more aggressive ode to sexism, accompanied by an electro-pop beat that was hard to resist. It quickly caused controversy as some critics derided the song for encouraging sexual relations between gays and lesbians and others charged that the sexually explicit scene it depicted catered to masculine fantasies about sexuality. Nevertheless the combination of sensuality and a polished melody helped I Kissed a Girl become the top-selling single in multiple countries powering the sales of her album One of the Boys (2008). The album's second single Hot N Cold also proving popular the album much of that Perry recorded herself later registered greater than three million copies in the United States.
